I would say this sounds a bit more like techno than video game, but nice work lovin this song!

PatrickMueller responds:

Thanks for taking your time for rating my song! I really appreciate that ;)
This might sound like techno because i have been producing hands up songs for 2 and a half years by now. that's an influence which is hard to fight against :)
I posted it as a video-game song though because a lot of people say:"heey, this is an 8-bit song (which is isn't :D). reminds me of the NES!". So i thought that most of the people would classify this song as a video-game-song ;)
thanks again and feel free to check out my other stuff ;)

No climax

Ok I was fine with the song starting out slow, but the problem is that when your fighting a boss, there is a point where it either slowly becomes more fast paced, or it instantly becomes fast paced, and that is what this loop is lacking. Keeping a song slow paced is a bit boring for the user. I think that what you have here is something that you can start the loop with in the first 15-20 seconds, then after that use one of the methods I stated earlier (or however you want to do it) but have it pick up the tempo then it will definitely be a worthy boss battle song.
If you are planning on following my advice, private message me when you submit the newer version, I'd love to hear it.

SFaPiL2 responds:

Thanks for the useful input Seifire. I find that one of the struggles of making a requested 0:30 - 1:30 second loop lies in the fact that there is no space for a build-up and, eventually, a "build-down" that seamlessly reconnects to the beginning. A quick transition, as you said, might do the trick, however.

I'll try out your advice and let you know if something worthy comes out from it. Cheers

Dude

Almost forgot to review this song, but better late than never right? First off, this song really sounds like you put a lot of work into it. Usually longer songs like this are repetitive, but this is not. The song also has a nice natural flow which is the most important part. There is a lot more positive things I can say about this song but I believe I have said enough for you to get the picture. I'm glad you finally have a song that has been viewed enough, you deserve it. 5/5 10/10

decoyultimatum responds:

thanks
this song is like an extension of me i just emptied every last bit of my soul into this

I see what your getting at.

I like the simplicity of it, but you need a piano that sustains notes for a longer period of time so the tone of the song has time to set in. Also it seemed a bit repetitive, but it is a pleasant song to listen to.

decoyultimatum responds:

ya i know i had my piano sustaining longer but it made a strange ringing noise i figured it was an eq or balence issue but after sifting though it i couldnt find anything and it wasnt a standard volume issue so i had to shorten them to keep from the aggresive hum it was emiting

Good

This is good but I would say that the song was mostly repetition. Got tired of listening to this song pretty quickly, 5/5 7/10

decoyultimatum responds:

ya thats why its a game loop so you arent focused on the music the music is supposed to just give a little background structure so you arent playing a silent game
but i too grow kinda tired of it :)

......

I'm speechless. 5/5 10/10

decoyultimatum responds:

:) thanks man it really does mean a lot to me

Good

The only thing that I can say is what's already been said- the drums are a little too loud and a bit overpowering. Really sounds nice so far though.

decoyultimatum responds:

thanks glad you like it :)

....

It sounds as if you didn't do very much with the song. The climax is a little cheap, it gets very repetitive but I really liked 2:04- 2:30. The song is good overall, but I KNOW that you can do much better.

decoyultimatum responds:

ya i know i just have no idea what to do with this its like its making fun of me for not being good enough to finish it
what was changed was dynamics and an added synth so ya not a lot changed :(

No climax

As far as i can tell, the song just coasts. You need to add a climax, and have the song slowly begin to end. Also, when I listen to this, it sounds like this should be a background noise, try adding a more intense instrument to lead the song, and have it correspond to this background.

decoyultimatum responds:

thanks i think i can do that. when i got to this point of the song i was like its awesome ....but somethings wrong with it :(

Good but...

I'm going to agree with turdz: the track never really worked up any momentum. It just started and ended at the same tempo. Starting slower would've given the song the feeling of dramatic suspense and would've made it better. It's good but it needs work.

decoyultimatum responds:

lol i had so much freaking trouble trying to make the tempo change work i just gave up on it and got rid of the tempo change

There is not much to say really, I develop some music on FL and I'm a pc gamer.
